Summary
The purpose of the House Child Care Center (HRCCC) is to provide full-day, year-round quality childcare for children of the Members of the House of Representatives, their staff, and House support personnel. This position serves as the Facility Support Worker.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
High school diploma
1 year minimum experience working in a school district setting or preschool environment in which the applicant had direct responsibility for cleaning, disinfecting, organizing equipment, and school materials.
Experience working with young children and their families is preferred.
*Continued employment is contingent upon completing a criminal history records check (or other applicable security clearance) and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only).
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability (KSA) and Competency Requirements:
Knowledge of basic principles of sanitation and disinfection, playground safety, and childcare facility support.
Knowledge of health and safety laws, regulations, policies, standards, and practices.
Ability to prepare food and operate kitchen/food service equipment and machines (e.g., stove, microwave, dishwasher, washer, dryer).
Knowledge of sanitation guidelines and best practices.
Knowledge of inventory and record management principles.
Knowledge of basic child development as well as the ability to understand the developmental progress and identify the needs of all applicable children.
Ability to analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions/changes.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with tact, as well as the ability to exercise judgement and discretion.
Knowledge of and ability to use various automated systems, such as Microsoft Office tools, computers, mobile devices, phone systems, etc.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This position is in a childcare setting that is adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. The work is performed around sharp instruments, equipment with moving parts, and/or heating elements and may involve moderate risks which require special safety precautions. The incumbent must be able to meet minimum physical requirements and work environment demands. Specifically, the incumbent must:
Lift and/or move 50 pounds or more regularly.
Stand, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, lift, twist, climb ladders, and grasp.
Participate in moderate physical exercise for extended periods of time.
Crouch or stand for extended periods of time.
Meet medical and physical requirements to wear and use protective equipment to include but not limited to gloves, aprons, and nonslip shoes.
Participate in training to obtain/maintain awareness of and ensure adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and processes to include but not limited to allergies, other dietary restrictions, health conditions, kitchen equipment use, and emergency response protocols.
Ability to acquire and maintain the following certifications within 30 days of hire date: Infant/Child/Adult CPR Certification and First Aid Certification.
Ability to successfully complete a physical exam and tuberculosis test (at the incumbent’s expense) prior to employment and annually thereafter (current documentation may not be older than 12 months).
Security Requirements:
Must successfully complete a criminal history records check.
Employee may be subject to drug testing in accordance with the CAO Drug Free Workplace Plan.
Must successfully complete a Public Trust investigation with a Child Registry check.
