Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as Supervisory Medical Technician in a Military Entrance Processing Station, providing program oversight and supervision to Medical Technicians.

Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
Per AR 600-85, this position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R and must pass a urinalysis test as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
One year Supervisory trial/probationary period may be required.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Applicant must be able to pass a color perception (vision) examination.
Applicant must be physically able to perform (demonstrate) and evaluate military physical aptitude (maneuvers) tests.
Applicant must undergo blood testing on a yearly basis.
Must use restrictive and protective clothing such as surgical gloves, employee cannot wear exposing footwear.
Occasional shift work (before 0600 or after 1800 hours) may be required.
Occasionally may be required to work Saturdays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing and/or advising on a variety of complex test, procedures and examinations in a clinical laboratory; Maintaining quality assurance and quality control checks of test results; Performing phlebotomy on patients; Delegating tasks and providing technical guidance to medical technicians and/or medical personnel; Performing quality assurance reviews of applicant records and ensuring they include test result. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
