The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform the job without more than normal supervision: 1) Determining the nature and extent of repairs necessary; 2) Operating trade specific hand and power tools; 3) Sufficient knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations; 4) Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be in good physical condition. The incumbent is required to do considerable standing, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, and climbing. Must have the ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor as unassisted lifting, moving, and carrying of supplies and equipment weighing 45lbs (100 lbs. assisted) is required. Must be able to climb/descend stairs and ladders, stoop, bend, kneel and work in uncomfortable positions. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work involves normal risks or discomforts associated with plant operations, facility management, and/or mechanical systems. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with potential exposure to extreme weather or temperature conditions. The employee is required to work from scaffolding, ladders, and staging platforms. Occasional exposure to dust or dirty conditions exists when visiting rooms or facilities undergoing repair, maintenance, or renovation. May be subject to industrial hazards including cuts, scrapes, bruises and falls. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (includes safety shoes, protective eyewear, hearing protection and breathing masks). The employee may be exposed to hazards of operating power tools and industrial equipment including broken bones and dismemberment. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
