About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. Learn more about this agency Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position has a requirement to lift up to 50lbs. in the regular performance of duties. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position will require the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time. Must obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI). Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Railroad Maintenance Vehicle Operator (Direct Hire Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision. I can 1) perform railroad track maintenance to remain in compliance; 2) conduct minor troubleshooting to determine the root of issues that may arise; AND 3) operate railroad equipment to align, space, and surface straight and curved tracks. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Position requires continuous physical effort in manipulating equipment controls with hands and feet and stretching and moving to maintain vision, observe work being accomplished, and to ensure that machinery is being operated properly. Performs work while subject to machine or equipment movement which may include jolting, jarring, rocking, swaying, lifting, lowering and vibrating movements. Required to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed in open cabs, or operator platforms, or equipment seats and/or outside. Operator is exposed to a wide range of weather and temperature conditions; high noise levels, fumes and odors from fuel, exhaust, lubricants and creosote, vibration and jolting from equipment operation. May frequently be required to work in bad weather or under other adverse or emergency conditions. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
