MAJOR DUTIES CONT.
Recruit volunteers to serve as L.I.N.K.S. mentors, and provide L.I.N.K.S. mentor training for each volunteer. Coordinate meetings, and provide professional development opportunities for mentors. Documents L.I.N.K.S. volunteer mentors' training and service hours. Recognize volunteers in accordance with established guidelines provided by CMC (MF).
Recommend changes to course content to HQMC, MCFTB regarding specific curriculum as needed for their area of operations (AOR). Works collaboratively with DRCs/URCs to recommend courses aligned to specific unit requirements. Communicate with and educate DRCs/URCs and unit Family Readiness Command Teams to promote participation in the programs. Attend Welcome Aboard briefs, all hands functions, and other public events to promote programming and recruit participants and volunteers.
Maintain accurate and complete records documenting each program presented to include, but not limited to: length of presentation, number of and demographics of participants, and participant evaluations. Prepare and submit reports as required to HQMC, MCFTB.
In some locations, may serve as the responsible point of contact for oversight, development and administration of the Volunteer Management Program to include: mission, vision, goals, objectives, marketing, improvement, organizational and development initiatives. Manage, promote, monitor and assess volunteerism and volunteer placement satisfaction. Execute coordination and build partnerships with other Marine and Family Program components, installation volunteer coordinators, volunteer ambassadors, and community agencies. Conduct briefs, trainings, and presentations to internal and external customers and outlets. Coordinate, facilitate and execute plans and management initiatives to recruit, screen, track, train, evaluate and refer Marines, Sailors, and family members to volunteer opportunities within the Marine Corps installation and outside community based on assessment of their interests, skills and prior experience. Coordinate recognition ceremonies and public awareness efforts in conjunction with the Public Affairs Office (PAO) to promote volunteerism for MF.
Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule, to include weekend and nighttime family briefs/programs. Must be able to travel in order to support MCFTB functions.
Perform other duties as assigned. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BACHELOR'S DEGREE from an accredited college or university in a related field appropriate to the work of position AND THREE YEARS of experience in the occupation, or a related field or work area, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Demonstrated skill to independently train, review, and analyze effectiveness of training. Must be able to train curricula which do not require professional licensure, but may require specialized education and or experience. Such functions include teaching, facilitating educationally-based groups or programs (where no clinical interpretation of behavioral health is made), administrative functions, or providing generally available information to groups or individuals. Must be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing; ability to develop quality training; ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships with all levels of employees and command, both inside and outside the organization; knowledge of military structure and protocol; ability to exercise initiative in resolving problems, rendering decisions, and carrying out revisions to plans; ability to work effectively with others, to supervise, to facilitate, to run meetings, and to take charge and direct an event when necessary; knowledge of community resources for Marines and their families; ability to analyze data and present logical conclusions and recommendations; ability to utilize all Microsoft applications.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under the age of 18.
