Job Description
Summary
This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. The purpose of this position is to serve in a developmental capacity as a member of one of the Reference Service teams, located within the Center, National Personnel Records Center (NPRC). As a member of a Reference Service team, the incumbent will utilize technical expertise related to military records for the benefit of veterans and their families, the military services and Federal, state and local agencies.

Conditions of Employment
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
A one year probationary period may be required.
Must successfully complete a background investigation.
Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
The incumbent works primarily in an office setting. The environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, residences, or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: For the GS-04 grade level, you must have one year of general experience which includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR
Education: 2 years of education above high school.
OR
Combination of general experience and education. You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.
