Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

This is a bargaining unit position.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driverβs license.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
This position requires the employee to have the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
This position requires the employee to work in adverse environmental conditions.
May require incumbent to enter into and work inside of confined spaces. The need for medical surveillance will be based on industrial hygiene evaluation.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing technical airfield electronic work for compliance with regulations; 2) Troubleshooting and repairing airfield electronic equipment, air traffic control systems, radars, instrument approach systems, navigational aids, and communications systems to solve complex technical problems or improve system performance with an emphasis on Digital Airport Surveillance Radar (DASR) and Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS); 3) Evaluating equipment design to improve or enhance circuit and system operation; 4) Using applicable test equipment, test methods and practices as related to the air traffic control equipment and systems, including safety precautions; 5) Performing site certification of ATC and airfield landing systems; and 6) Applying knowledge of Naval Air Traffic Control, air navigation aids and landing systems.

Physical demands: The work requires repeated bending, standing for long periods, twisting of the body, being able to reach or fit behind equipment racks and lifting objects over 50 pounds. Certain evolutions will require considerable physical skills to climb and work on tall poles, antenna towers, driving over rough terrain or poorly paved roads.
Work Environment: Execution of duties in electronic spaces will require the incumbent to work in conditions with moderate risk due to indoor environmental noise, dust, and low voltage electronic equipment. Due to the nature of the work an extended period may be spent out on the airfield. The weather conditions in which work will be completed will range from seasonal to inclement and noise will be a constant hazard on the airfield. Maintenance will require the incumbent to lift items weighing over 50 pounds, be exposed to potentially dangerous RF energy, electromagnetic fields, high voltage, climbing and working at heights over 50 feet (going aloft antenna towers). The incumbent is subject to work rotating shifts, emergency call back and/or telephone availability.
