Summary This SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER (ACCELERATED HIRE) position, is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility,and is part of the CA JFHQ SMO. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position. Priority Areas(s) of Consideration: Priority consideration is first given to the areas below. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. AREA II= Current California National Guard members. AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Army CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment). Military Grades: E-1 through E-9 or eligible for enlistment Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Qualifications General Experience: Possess experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-5801-05 (Trainee): Must have at least 6 months experience using common hand tools in making repetitive repairs under close supervision; Experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade? SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-5801-08: Must have at least 12 months experience using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs; Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories; Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments; Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships; Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
