Job Description

Summary The Recreation Assistant supports in the daily operations of Malmstrom Outdoor Recreation. This position is flexible. You are guaranteed 0 hours, however could work up to 40 hours per week. As a flexible employee, you are not eligible to earn leave or other NAF benefits. All applicants MUST possess and maintain a current state driver's license. This is a Drug Tested Designated Position. Requirements Conditions of Employment This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results. The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Qualifications Who May Apply: Open to everyone. Applicants will be categorized by preference(s) and/or priority consideration eligibilities. An applicant's eligibility will be determined based on eligibility claimed in the questionnaire and proof of eligibility MUST be provided with application by the closing date, 07/15/2025 Business Based Action, Military Spouse Preference, Outside Applicant Veteran, Spouse/Widow/Parent of Veteran, and Transition Hiring Preference In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Applicant must have experience which provided a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity which has involved recreation work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned. Skill in repairing skis and installing ski bindings is highly desirable. Must have the ability to operate vans and trucks with manual transmissions in all weather conditions. Must possess a current state driver's license. This is a Drug Tested designated Position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Must be able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to I00 pounds. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES NOT allow for education substitution. Additional information This is a not to exceed position, the incumbent may be reassigned to a permanent position. Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs IS NOT authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
