  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You may be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification and utilize a portable heart defibrillator where available.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Overseeing the operations of the Security Department during periods when the Installation Security Officer (ISO), Chief of Police, or other leadership are either unavailable or not on station; 2) Overseeing the Security Department operating under guidelines and procedures espoused by leadership; 3) Making judgements where guidelines are lacking, resolve issues that arise during the shift, or pass issues on to leadership; 4) Directing assigned personnel, first responders, auxiliary forces, local police responders, and others aboard the installation; and 5) Providing administrative and technical supervision to shift personnel to include Police Officers, Guards, Military Police, and other personnel during the assigned shift.
