Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T503000 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, National Guard.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Special Compartmented Information clearance within one year of appointment
Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
Position designated as Essential and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level (GS-11). Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; apply policy direction to contractors and government/military officials, and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls. Knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships, and proficiency in information, personnel, and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs. Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls. Ability to plan and carry out reviews of unit and/or contractor security programs, analyze and evaluate reports and conditions to recommend remedial actions.
In addition to specialized experience, must have experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC), Security Program Integration Professional Certification (SPIPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification
