Tractor Operator (Ball Fields)

Summary This position is located in the Fitness, Sports and Aquatics division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Station Mayport, Florida. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties to maintain athletic fields and other outdoor recreational facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness for patrons. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be 18 years or older. Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms. Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment. You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. May be required to pass pre-employment examinations. Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National. A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles. Must have salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. Must be able to work outside, subject to inclement weather condition. Must be able to carry, lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, and lift. Must be able to perform duties in all weather conditions, to include extreme heat and often inclement weather. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Ability to adjust and operate a gas and diesel tractor and specialized equipment and to be able to manipulate both tractor and hydraulic controlled equipment simultaneously. Knowledge of equipment and correct attachment methods, their power requirements, braking and turning capacities, power ratios and operating speeds. Ability to perform minor maintenance to equipment, i.e., oils and grease. Ability to recognize changes in turf conditions. Knowledge of safety procedures and limited first aid.
