Summary The Office of Attending Physician (OAP), is in search of a Safety and Occupational Health Manager to serve in the fields of occupational health, environmental health, infectious disease prevention, food service sanitation, pest control and general administration. The responsibilities involve planning, developing, administering, evaluating and promoting programs and activities concerned with the elimination and prevention of environmental and occupational health hazards. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, an applicant's one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for successful job performance. To qualify at the GS-13 level, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-12 level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include the following types of tasks performed on a regular and recurring basis: Managing safety or occupational health program elements;  Planning, developing, organizing, administering, evaluating and coordinating a comprehensive environment and occupational health program;  Performing risk assessments of hazardous processes, determining risk severity and making recommendations to minimize risk; Communicating effectively to implement training, performing inspection and investigation, create reports and facilitate meetings; and Evaluating health and safety trends, issues, protocols and accepted practices within large to moderately sized institutional environments preferred. Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) ), or reputable infection control certifications (CIC, IP, CICP) certifications are preferred. Education In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements for this position, applicants must meet the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the 0018 series.  Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
