AI Deployment Engineer

SickKids is leading a transformative enterprise-wide initiative to deliver leading edge data driven individualized medicine through AI in Medicine for Kids. Through this initiative we are building a platform and tools to enable all aspects of machine learning research and deployment from data exploration to post-deployment model monitoring and everything in between. We are seeking a deployment engineer to help create the tools frameworks and pipelines to enable data scientists and computational medicine experts to rapidly develop and deploy machine learning models in our cloud-based MLOps platform. In this role you will interact with unique large-scale datasets solve deployment challenges and work hand-in-hand with data scientists. The successful candidate will form an integral part of a truly multidisciplinary team consisting of clinicians data scientists computer scientists and human factors engineers.

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do:

• Work closely with some of the best health data scientists in the world through all stages of the data science pipeline to ensure models are deployable reproducible and supportable
• Design and implement deployment frameworks for a wide range of use-cases and data types that leverage both on-premise and cloud-based resources
• Contribute to the conceptual logical and physical architecture and governance along with corresponding solution designs
• Support AI deployment operations
• Provide cross-functional technical leadership on project teams
• Proactively identify communicate mitigate and resolve issues

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Experience deploying software and machine learning models in a private/public cloud environments (Azure an asset)
• Working experience with Kubernetes / container-based environments (Charmed K8s an asset)
• Knowledge of web security and technologies for authentication encryption authorization; privacy and data security and legislation
• Strong programming background with Python
• Strong background in working with large-scale data systems: Traditional (SQL) and Modern (NoSQL object-stores)
• Data integration experience
• Expertise with deploying microservices architectures
• Knowledge of CI/CD methodologies
• Strong automation experience with focus on configuration as code and infrastructure as code
• Experience with monitoring services with tools like Datadog or Splunk
• Excellent written and oral communication skills including report writing and presentations
• Strong facilitation and team leadership skills
• Strong consulting analytical and problem-solving skills
• Extraordinary attention to detail
• At least a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or equivalent experience

This will make you extra competitive:

• HL7/FHIR data model/systems for clinical/phenotypic data
• Background in machine learning predictive modeling and data analysis
• Background with Azure Machine Learning service Azure tool suite (Azure DevOps etc)
• Additional programming experience with: Java Python C/C++ in Linux/Unix environment
• Experience supporting algorithms for the processing of large clinical genomic and biomedical datasets
• Background in biology genetics medicine and statistics to understand the scientific requirements of the applications to be developed
