Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (T32), Position Description Number D0324000 and is part of the AL 117TH Air Refueling Wing, National Guard. ORGANIZATION: 117TH MAINTENANCE SQUADRON, BIRMINGHAM, AL SELECTING OFFICIAL: CMSGT K. SARGENT Requirements Conditions of Employment NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military grade in the Alabama Air National Guard. MAXIMUM MILITARY RANK: TSGT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Each applicant must fully substantiate (in his/her own words) that he/she meets the requirements of the Specialized Experience listed below: Otherwise, the applicant will be considered unqualified for this position. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics. SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE: Requires a thorough knowledge of the mechanical and electrical makeup and operation of powered and non-powered support systems including their major components. This position involves troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling and modifying powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment such as AC and DC power generators, air compressors, cryogenic equipment, hydraulic test stands, etc. The incumbent performs circuit analyses and applies electronic principles to troubleshoot and repair various digital devices contained in complex powered support equipment and interprets tables, color codes, wiring diagrams and schematics. This type work meets the WG-10 level of the standard. Education SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION IS NOT CONSIDERED FOR WAGE GRADE POSITIONS.
