Psychiatric Technician

Summary The Youth Regional Treatment Centers are substance use disorder treatment centers for American Indian/Alaska Native youth, that provides culturally-centered, individualized, evidenced-based substance use disorder and behavioral health services. This position provides non-professional care for patients with mental conditions under the supervision of the Clinical Director. The technician utilizes scientific and technical expertise, and manual skills to provide care and training for patients. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must pass pre-employment examination. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: For GS-7: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Performing variety of therapies, such as small group therapy, one-to-one therapy, and/or large group therapy using standardized therapeutic resident care. Preparing and administering prescribed medications. Taking vital signs. Monitoring patients' behavioral and mental conditions. Admitting and discharging patients. Or One full year of graduate education that it is directly related to the work of the position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. Typically, this is 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours. Or Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience. Selective Placement Factor - Psychiatric Technician license/certification: This position requires knowledge of anatomy, physiology, nursing fundamentals, nutrition, pharmacology, psychiatric diagnoses, developmental disabilities, and psychotropic medications, as evidenced by a certification or licensure as a psychiatric technician. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education There are no education requirements.
