This position is located in the Rubenstein National Institute for Holocaust Documentation at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM), at the Conservation and Research Center (Shapell Center), Bowie MD.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements in the vacancy announcements are based on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook, which contains federal qualification standards. This handbook is available on the Office of Personnel Management's website located at: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Qualifying experience for the GS-7 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-5 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. The specialized experience requirements for this position are arranging or rearranging of museum collections; carrying out collections imaging procedures; conducting the physical tracking of collections items; and creating and maintaining collection documentation; adhering to policy relating to the access, handling, and storage of museum collections; and assisting in arranging transportation of museum collections.

OR

One (1) full academic year of related graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement.

OR

A combination of education and experience.
