Graduated from United States Army Civilian Police Academy or complete within 1 year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General. Pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work. These include: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System training requirements. Must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program which includes a high standard of conduct, emotional stability, work effectively under pressure and emergencies. Must maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test as outline in "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program". Failure to meet the standards will result in separation. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. Federal law requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies. Convictions that occurred before January 20, 2001 are not included in this requirement; only new convictions will trigger the requirement. Mission Essential position. In the event of a crisis, emergency situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license. Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals. This position requires to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. Must complete of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience with 1) Apprehending, arresting or detaining suspects; 2) Interviewing witnesses and other persons involved to determine involvement in the incident; 3) Conducting safety inspections to ensure safety; 4) Conducting surveillance and physical inspections of perimeters; 5) Collecting and preserving evidence to bring suspects to trial. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information Temporary Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a temporary appointment not to exceed 12 months. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) years. This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour. You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
