Non-profit hospital seeking to hire a Hospice and Palliative Care Physician
This hospital-employed
position, located in the Coastal Region of South Carolina, is part of an established Hospice
Program.
McLeod Health is seeking to hire a Hospice and Palliative Care physician to grow our South
Carolina Coastal Hospice program in N. Myrtle Beach, SC.
US News and World Report ranked this area
number 1 in its list of fastest-growing places in the US for 2021-2022. The growth continues today,
necessitating the need for a dedicated physician. McLeod Loris Seacoast Hospital established its
Hospice and Palliative Care program in 2015; however, its sustained double-digit growth needs a
dedicated physician to serve this area. The coastal program is an extension of the McLeod Health
system program that has served 11 counties from the Midlands to the coast since 1984.
The ideal
candidate for this McLeod Loris Seacoast position is a physician with a passion for hospice and
palliative care interested in working in a rapidly changing environment who would like to grow and
mature an inpatient hospice and palliative care program. This position is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to
5 PM, with no weekend rounding, except being a phone resource for the team after-hours.
The current
Coastal program has an established Hospice office with an on-site director and nursing staff, along
with social workers and bereavement coordinators available to serve the inpatient and outpatient
needs of Horry County. The outpatient hospice and palliative care program currently carries an
average daily census of 100 patients.
This position is employed with McLeod Health with paid
malpractice, CME allowance, base salary plus RVU bonus, Sign On bonus, relocation allowance, paid
time off, and excellent retirement and health benefits. This opportunity also includes an Associated
Medical Director work with bonus pay.
McLeod Loris Seacoast Hospital is part of McLeod Health, the
region’s largest healthcare network. The coastal area in Horry County encompasses Myrtle Beach,
North Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, Loris, South Carolina, and southern portions of North
Carolina.
McLeod Loris Seacoast Hospital, a 205-bed hospital with three campuses, offers a wide
range of inpatient and outpatient services. McLeod Seacoast features interventional cardiology and
electrophysiology, vascular surgery, orthopedics, and a DaVinci robotics program. At the same time,
McLeod Loris specializes in urology, women’s services, and dialysis access. Currently, McLeod
Carolina Forest is an outpatient campus; however, in the next five years will add a 48-bed campus.
Primary care, hospitalists, and critical care/pulmonary medicine physicians support all three
campuses.
