ABOUT THE LEGAL & CRISIS TEAM

BerlinRosen’s Legal & Crisis team combines advocacy for some of the most important causes of our day—defending civil rights, combatting gender and race discrimination, advocating for gun violence prevention—with more traditional crisis communications helping institutions, companies, nonprofits and high net-worth individuals defend themselves from reputational threats by shaping the narrative swirling around them. The team has contacts at top media outlets and leverages those connections to help clients mitigate damaging stories before and after they are reported. 


ABOUT THIS ROLE

BerlinRosen is seeking an Account Coordinator to join our Legal Affairs and Crisis Communications team. This position provides candidates with a unique opportunity to join a talented and growing team working on exceedingly high-profile projects, including strategy and communications needs for a variety of clients ranging from law firms and businesses to institutions and nonprofits to high-profile individuals.

Role location: This role is based in our New York, N.Y. office on a hybrid basis. The Legal & Crisis team is in-office at least two days per week.


ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

As an Account Coordinator on our Legal Affairs and Crisis Communications team, you will...

  • Support the day-to-day on projects and collaborate with colleagues to advance the communications strategy for multiple high-profile client accounts
  • Collaborate with internal account teams to shape media coverage of particular legal and crisis efforts, whether proactively or defensively
  • Oversee day-to-day communications with clients, including staffing weekly calls, developing press recaps and participating in crisis communications, as necessary
  • Conduct strategic and thorough media outreach to land or shape stories for our clients 
  • Monitor the media to identify opportunities to insert our clients into the news cycle or, when appropriate, to flag negative coverage 
  • Build and maintain press lists that demonstrate a strong understanding of the reporters and outlets covering our clients' issues
  • Contribute ideas, research and writing support for strategic communications 
  • Keep the trains running for our account teams by ensuring the team's work moves in accordance with work plans and meets deadlines

Essential skills:

  • 1+ year(s) of relevant work experience in crisis and/or strategic communications, media relations or a related field. A background in journalism is a strong plus
  • Experience in crisis communications situations, including managing media engagement around crisis needs
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with reporters at top-tier outlets
  • Adept at communicating clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with varying levels of staff, clients and the media 
  • High level of organization, attention to detail and an ability to multitask

Compensation philosophy: BerlinRosen offers competitive industry rate salaries with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.  

Compensation: The salary for this role is $60,000.
