Accounting Manager - Access Technologies - Carmel, IN (Hybrid)

Accounting Manager

This role reports directly to the Assistant Controller for Allegion Access Technologies (AAT) Business Unit. This role is responsible for the monthly accounting close process for the AAT business and should drive consistent, accurate financial reporting while maintaining a strong control environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Execute the month-end close process.
  • Responsible for month-end accounting close activities including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations and submission of the standard trial balance to yield timely and accurate financial information.
  • Serve as a well-respected business partner and financial resource, including frequent partnership with credit and collections, FP&A, commercial finance, operations finance, and plant finance to coordinate and facilitate the month-end close process.
  • Accountable for intercompany accounting including settlement of intercompany receivables and payables into banking portal and ensuring adherence to intercompany FICAP.
  • Analyze and evaluate adequacies of general ledger reserves.
  • Ensure the integrity of all data reported and compliance with all controls and accounting policies.
  • Partner with the business to implement process control strategies around functional areas and IT systems, specifically focused on process simplification, automation, standardization, and internal control enhancements.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Controller, Business Unit leadership and IT to validate proper system controls are in place around the business and mitigate any risk with the system that is currently being used.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Controller, Business Unit's leaders and finance to ensure the application of policies to mitigate any risks by all functions.
  • Collaborate with finance, internal and external auditors and perform required testing of controls as needed.
  • Assist with the exit from the Technical Services Agreement (TSA) and help build AAT's accounting function.
  • Assist in documenting all processes related to the month-end close process, subledger process flows (AR, AP, Fixed Assets, Inventory etc.) and help design future state of record to report team.
  • Assist in developing Business Unit reconciliation tool to ensure accounts are properly reconciled, and reconciliations are properly reviewed and approved.
  • Assist in report out of project status and ensure smooth exit from TSA.
  • Participate in the implementation of SAP system for the AAT business.
  • Work in partnership with the integration team to help lead implementation of the SAP general ledger.
  • Take part in proper design and testing of the general ledger and processes that impact financial reporting, including appropriate controls around processes within the SAP system.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's Degree. Finance, Accounting and Business preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience including general ledger.
  • Proficient with utilizing technology, such as Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Power BI, Excel - VLookup, XLookup, Pivot tables, Sumif, IF, etc.), Hyperion (HFM), Oracle, and SAP.
  • Maintain high level of attention to detail, prioritization, and multi-task in faced-paced environment.
  • Audit experience preferred, SOX, etc.
  • Experience with project leadership.
  • Business partnership experience.
  • Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Some business travel expected: Less than 20%.
