Actuary Director - Valuation

The Actuary Director leads a team responsible for valuation and financial analysis, on both a GAAP and statutory basis. The role ensures accuracy and integrity of our financial statements, while providing management with insight into underlying financial performance. The role combines technical actuarial skills, knowledge of valuation methods & products, business acumen, and leadership. Partnership with other teams, from Pricing to Modeling to Finance, is key for success in the role.

Responsibilities:

• Quarterly valuation, financial reporting, and controls
• Earnings & financial performance analysis, including creating new analytics
• Assumption setting, including analysis of experience studies & assumption governance
• Unlocking and loss recognition testing
• Knowledge leadership for application valuation & accounting standards
• Monitoring regulatory and accounting changes related to valuation
• Partnership with line of business finance teams
• Management, leadership, and development of team members
• Standing up new products on the company's valuation system
• Partnering with Modeling on model changes & governance
• Ensuring documentation and controls are appropriate and maintained
• Presenting results & analysis to management
• Process improvement

Qualifications & Requirements:

• BS/BA in math, actuarial science, economics, or related fields
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
• Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with actuarial modeling software (Prophet, GGY-Axis, ALFA)
• Ability to solve complex problems and cross-functionally collaborate in achieving enterprise goals
• Proven experience articulating complex data to both a technical & non-technical audience.
• Demonstrated passion for work and team's success
• Or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background

Salary Band: 07C

This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, WI, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
