Our Medicines Innovation Hub team is an innovation-focused organization striving to identify, develop and apply the most groundbreaking technologies to deliver maximum benefit to our patients. Our agile and diverse team strives to operate as an autonomous 'biotech-like' company within the walls of Lilly.
In the Medicines Innovation Hub Team, both basic and applied sciences are vital. We are looking for creative and energetic problem solvers to lead in a multidisciplinary team at the front edge of innovation.
Key facets of the role are identifying and leveraging novel biocatalytic approaches in the creation of novel small molecules, protection/deprotection reactions, and ligation approaches to elaborate linear molecules. Successful candidates will have a strong working knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry and biology techniques and the ability to collaborate with a highly cross functional team.
You will join our fast-paced, interdisciplinary team as we apply biocatalysis to the discovery and development of novel therapeutic modalities to enhance the Lilly portfolio. The successful applicant will use their knowledge and technical expertise to complement and enable core capabilities and help drive the creation and development of new clinical candidates. Do you have the skills for creative approaches and modalities in discovery and development focused on identifying impactful therapies for the patient? We want you on our team! Apply today and help us take novel therapeutics to the next level!
Basic Qualifications:
• PhD in chemistry, chemical biology, or related field.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
• Expertise in the discovery and application of new reactions using biocatalysis on analytical and preparative scales.
• Expertise in the design of High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE) and screening of small molecules for new reaction discovery.

• Expertise in cell culture, maintenance, and molecular cloning leveraging various cell lines
• Experience with protein engineering, including directed evolution using mutagenesis for library generation
• Experience in designing new synthetic organic routes and ability to separate, purify, isolate, and characterize small organic compounds.
