What you will be able to do:
We are seeking a RF Antenna Engineer to perform antenna design and simulation, antenna requirement generation and antenna testing applicable to the automotive industry. In this role you will play a key role in design and development antennas for connected and autonomous vehicles at Ford Motor Company. In this position you will:
- Design and develop antennas for Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Satellite Radio, GNSS, and C-V2X from concept to production
- Design and develop antennas for electronic modules that are used in vehicle
- Build working relationships with electronics module design team to ensure the antenna is working properly.
- Validate antennas through testing and simulation both component level and with antenna is on vehicle
- Ensure that the antenna development phases and deliverables are aligned to GPDS milestones.
- Support research of sophisticated antenna designs for future communication systems and develop sourcing requirements for various technologies such as 5G NR, C-V2X, Ultra-wideband, etc.
- Support antenna D&Rs and Tier 1 suppliers to build antenna on time, with quality and within budget.
- Drive continuous performance, cost, and quality improvements
- Perform antenna simulations using CAE tools (e.g. HFSS, FEKO, CST, ADS, MATLAB, Simulink etc.) both at the antenna component level and on vehicle models
The minimum requirements we seek:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field
- 1+ years of experience in antenna design and development using CAE tools (e.g. HFSS, CST, ADS, MATLAB, Simulink) (graduate level coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed)
- 1+ years of experience with antenna test equipment (e.g. network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, signal generators) (graduate level coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed)
Our preferred requirements:
- Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field
- 3+ years of experience in any one of the following: antenna design, antenna test, wireless system design, wireless hardware design, wireless communications systems design and testing
- Experience using antenna test facilities (e.g. nearfields and farfields, anechoic chambers, outdoor test sites, etc.)
- Experience with high frequency electromagnetic field solvers (e.g. HFSS, CST, FEKO to design antennas and simulate antenna interaction on large structures such as automobiles, etc.)
- Experience with Keysight ADS or Genesys to develop antenna matching networks
- Knowledge of the following technologies: GNSS, Satellite Radio, CV2X, LTE/WCDMA/GSM, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/ad and/or Bluetooth/BLE
