The role:
As a member of our growing Content team, the Assessment Associate (bilingual) will support the creation of engaging English- and Spanish-language assessments for Newsela content that meet our users’ needs You will contribute to the creation of formative assessments, and collaborate with internal and external teams in crafting exceptional assessment experiences. Additionally, you will conduct research and analysis to ensure our assessments are aligned to best practices as well as ever-shifting state standards. You will play a hands-on role in helping Newsela develop the assessment features of our product, and in turn enable improved learning outcomes for students across the U.S. Reporting to the Assessment Manager, you will partner closely with assessment and standards specialists, as well as the broader Curriculum and Instruction team to produce assessment content designed to inform instructional content. Why you're a great fit:Â
- You have 6 months of experience in the classroom or in assessment production, including experience developing and evaluating assessments that align to national educational standards
- You are fluent in English and SpanishÂ
- You have deep knowledge of (or at least are familiar with) the Common Core State Standards for ELA (as well as other state standards), and can articulate how to assess the skills and conceptual knowledge within the standards in both English and Spanish languages
- You have demonstrated success in making qualitative and quantitative informed decisions that ensure strong instructional resources for teachers and students
- You leverage your experience working with adult learners to coach them to effectively architect data-informed strategies that enhance learning outcomes
- You are fiercely committed to thinking about what is best for students and for teachers.
- While not required, Science, Social Studies or Elementary Education experience is a plus
Base compensation range: $60,000 - $65,000. Total compensation for this role also includes incentive stock options and benefits. This compensation range may be adjusted based on actual experience.Â
