Research should include a focus on health care outcomes, delivery and/or implementation with human subject participants as the focus of study. The candidates will lead or contribute to applications for centers of excellence, new, innovative areas of aging research, research training programs, and similar collaborative initiatives to enhance our research enterprise.
A successful candidate will have sufficiently comprehensive knowledge of the domains listed above and advance interdisciplinary research partnerships within the following institutions:

• Health systems partners including Indiana University Health, Eskenazi Health, and the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center
In particular, the Endowed Chair will be expected to engage creatively to address critical training, mentoring, and recruitment strategies that intersect with, complement, and expand existing research and methodological foci with the goal of increasing the number of Geroscience researchers. The facilitation of cross-disciplinary collaboration between investigators from different Centers in the Institute (Center for Aging Research, Center for Biomedical Informatics, Center for Health Services Research) and programs (Regenstrief Data Services and Health Data Standards, Learning Health Systems, and Health Disparities and Equity Research) is highly encouraged.
The Regenstrief Institute is a 501 c(3) dynamic, independent research organization that, for 50 years, has continuously supported Indiana University’s School of Medicine as it carries out its mission to develop, conduct, and disseminate impactful scientific research in health systems and across communities. The Institute embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion as fundamental elements of a healthy life and community. The Institute values include addressing the needs of communities and populations through mutually beneficial partnerships, disseminating discoveries to drive improvements in health and healthcare, recruit and retain the best and the brightest, conduct research that increase equity, and collaborate to solve problems and drive interdisciplinary innovation. The Institute’s long history of discovery and development of cutting-edge technologies has led to impacts regionally, nationally and internationally, spanning research in health services, biomedical informatics, and aging. Resources include the Indiana Network for Patient Care data set with medical records data for over 20 million patients including social determinants of health variables, the IU Health electronic health record (EHR) data warehouse, and the Eskenazi EHR data warehouse as well as partnerships with these clinical partners focused on learning health systems and health disparities. Talented professional staff support an internationally recognized group of faculty investigators from both Indiana University and Purdue University who pursue work that integrates research discovery, technological advances, and systems enhancement to improve health and healthcare. Faculty investigators have achieved a high level of success in generating extramural funding, which resulted in a footprint across the University and the Institute of over $50 million in the last fiscal year. The IU Center for Aging Research is a collaborative effort between the IU School of Medicine and the Regenstrief Institute. Faculty at the center focus on research topics that affect the aging population, including brain health, decision-making, physical fitness, transitional care, nursing home care, and medication use.
