In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our Emerging Technologies - Oral Finished Products facility in Durham, NC is a 194,000 square foot tableting and packaging facility that supports the production of our innovative oral treatments for patients with type 2 diabetes. The Position
Supervises FUSE personnel & ensures safe & effective operations while maintaining a high level of focus on Quality. Coordinates with contractors, engineers & other providers as well as internal stakeholders for the success of the Site.

Manager, FUSE.
Essential Functions
- Ensures all safety & environmental requirements and Standard Operating Procedures are followed in the performance of duties
- Ensure that all reports have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, to include conducting interim reviews so that their work is accurately focused on relevant priorities, includes completed learnings, development plan and ensuring they understand their level of accountability for results and how the measurement process works
- Drive compliance of ISO5000 requirements
- Lead and support implementation of upgrades & new projects
- Develop training program for production processes & ensure all mandatory training requirements for the team are met
- Manage and develop departmental procedures & maintain SOPs according to cGMP
- Support process equipment validation activities
- Serves as primary interface between maintenance & production & ensures maintenance requests are met by established guidelines
- Coach and mentor direct reports & help facilitate a productive, engaging & safe working environment
- Manage any safety, quality, staffing or personnel issues & escalate to manager as necessary
- Ensure documentation meets GMP requirements
- Lead & manage maintenance activities & ensures preventive maintenance of mechanical & control components to minimize impact to production
- Leads preventive maintenance execution process improvements
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
- Other accountabilities, as assigned
Physical Requirements
Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. Occasionally performs critical job functions in extremely cold work environments. Occasionally positions oneself within confined spaces for inspection, repair & maintenance of equipment. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Able to pass a driving exam for powered industrial trucks. Does not require a valid drivers license.
Development of People
Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.
Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited university or an equivalent combination of education & experience is required
- May consider an Associate's degree in a technical field from an accredited university with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment required, pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred
- May consider a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a manufacturing environment required, pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment required, pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of direct supervisory experience required
- Ability to read, write & understand complicated product documentation & standard operating procedures with attention to detail required
- Computer literacy required
