Job Description

Your role as a QA Automation Engineer for USPTO is to write scripts and create automation environments for repeated tests. Using different automation tools, you will design, test, and deploy effective test automation solutions. Your goal is to automate as much of the testing effort as possible with a minimum set of code. Responsible for the execution of Systems, Integration & Regression testing of software. This position is fully Remote.

Skills Required:

• Technical Skills - Require programming skills to write computer code and scripts in common computer languages, such as Java
• Suggest /Make framework enhancements to accommodate the scripting needs
• Analytical skills - Analytically examine bug reports, prioritize necessary tests, and streamline application functions through automated testing processes
• Attention to detail - Being detail oriented is required as you will test web applications to find ways to improve them and isolate problems
• Communication skills - Strong verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with the engineering team and create testing plans and written reports showing errors

Tools:

• Automation testing tools: Selenium, Node.js, Serenity
• API testing tools that require strong coding skills to create tests: REST Assured, SOAPUI, etc.
• Source Control Tools: Git
• Defect tracking and task creation tool Responsibilities: JIRA/Rally
• Database - SQL/PostgreSQL
• Write, design, and execute automated tests by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically
• Maximize test coverage for the most critical features of the system
• Determine the priority for test scenarios and create execution plans to implement these scenarios
• Write documentation for automated processes including test plans, test procedures, and test cases
• Log and document bugs in the tracking system
• Set up Continuous Integration
• Besides writing automated tests, Test Automation Engineers can still do exploratory testing when they need to understand how functionality manifests itself to the customer

Required Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of testing methodologies & scripting
• 2+ years of test automation experience with test automation frameworks, tools, and practices.
• Knowledge of web application testing, preferably using the Selenium toolset.
• Strong knowledge of a Java programming language
• Experience working in an agile environment including, participating in sprint planning activities, daily standups and closing ceremonies
• Eligible for Public Trust Clearance.

Compensation

$72,268.51 - $115,627.49

The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may will be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience.
