AWS Cloud Engineer

Location and Travel Details: Dayton/Cincinnati, OH area or remote

Illumination Works is looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer to provide advanced and cross-technology engineering through all phases of the technology/project lifecycle. In this role, you will be accountable for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support. You will also be responsible for monitoring performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately as well as mentoring and coaching others to establish and improve processes and procedures.

The key responsibilities of an AWS Cloud Engineer include:

• Design and implement overall infrastructure components per project with infrastructure and development teams, ensuring the overall solution is designed to meet SLA, DR, monitoring, security, cost and scalability needs required by the solution
• Generate scripts/templates required for the automatic provisioning of resources in the cloud
• Debug technical issues inside a complex stack involving virtualization, containers, and serverless
• Establish Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery Pipelines including supporting Security Scans
• Collaborate with engineering teams to enable applications to run natively on cloud infrastructures
• Design, implement, and support multiple systems/applications of high complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility
• Support and maintain infrastructure solutions utilizing required tools and technologies

Key skills we look for include:

• Must have 6 years cloud experience, with a minimum of 2-3 years as a cloud engineer with AWS including Lambda, EKS, API Gateways, AWS Glue
• Must be proficient with Python
• Experience with networking in the cloud to include network security groups, user defined routes, application gateways, and load balancers
• Experience with Kubernetes Service configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting
• Understanding of PKI to include generating certificate requests, provisioning certificates in PKCS7 and PKCS12 formats, configuring CA bundles and Windows certificate repositories, generating self-signed certificates, and troubleshooting PKI-related errors and issues with cloud resources
• Minimum education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or comparable academic discipline
• Must have or be willing to obtain Secret Clearance (this requires US citizenship)
• Experience with GovCloud or CloudOne desirable
• AWS solutions architect or AWS Engineer certification desired
• Acceptable candidates must successfully pass a drug test and background screen

Specific desired experience:

• Integrating PKI with Lambda functions
• Managing API endpoints inbound and outbound for system interface management
• Familiar with DAG principles for dependency management of functions and services
• Developing capabilities that chain diverse services together to complete a process
• Developing and deploying in a Continuous ATO security framework (DoD)
