Summary

This role is part of Simplot's Agronomy and Data Science (ADS) organization and will support the design, development, and management of strategic, tactical, and operational analytical solutions. As part of the ADS team, you will focus on designing, data visualizations, using data management, reporting and automation tools. This role will interface with our User Experience, data engineering, and data science experts to create knowledge from data and bring information into the hands of stakeholders in a compelling and accessible way. If we cannot tell the story and make it easily consumable the information is useless. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the various stakeholders and drive understanding and adoption of Simplot's Agronomy and Data science tool sets and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that visualizations adhere to UX best practices and technical standards
• Interface with Agriculture experts to learn the industry and enhance your story telling capability via relevant context.
• Leverage your skill sets to tell the story via a variety of data communication and other forms of data visualizations to support strategic, tactical, and operational business decisions.
• Help stakeholders and leadership identify business process efficiency/improvements. Frequent interaction with senior agricultural leaders will be important to understand their problems and challenges and present to them information and solutions that meet their needs.
• Partner with stakeholders to collect, document, and analyze business requirements and translate them into tangible reporting and system deliverables with a clearly defined acceptance criterion
• Identify the data sources that that will support reporting requirements and work with the IT data engineers to produce consumable datasets for reporting and analysis
• Implement data quality processes to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data sources and reports by leveraging automation and monitoring capabilities
• Assist members of the analytics team and business stakeholders with ad-hoc and self-service reporting capabilities
• Provide documentation, training, and support to end users to facilitate change management efforts and to drive adoption of report and dashboard solutions. These activities often require cross functional collaboration and the coordination of activities such as user acceptance testing, production deployments, training, and post deployment support (hypercare)

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree, in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics/Statistics or another related major field of study preferred

Relevant Experience

• 8-10 yrs prior experience with an integrated data management environment
• Functional experience in a food or agribusiness industry preferred
• 8-10 yrs experience querying and transforming data from relational data sources.
• 8-10 yrs experience with a focus on data analytics including independent problem solving, and effective communication with peers and stakeholders at all levels.
• 10 yrs experience summarizing large amounts of data from multiple data sources into actionable intelligence to drive business decisions
• Experience creating detailed process documentation and conducting knowledge transfer
• Experience with process improvement (Six-Sigma) is a plus

Required Certifications

Other Information

• Extensive knowledge of SQL, Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Power Apps
• Significant knowledge of UX design best practices to present and visualize analytics
• Knowledge of data analysis tools, data modeling and data management, with the ability to find and share trends from the data to make informed and objective recommendations.
• End-to-end understanding of the data flow process of analytical solutions (from ingestion to consumption layer)
• Familiarity with exploring and consuming data from Azure data stores such as Data Lake Storage Gen 2 and Synapse
• Familiarity with project management and agile methodology preferred
• Knowledge of R, Python or other statistical analysis & data mining tools is a plus
