We are looking for a Buyer to join our growing Supply Chain team and be primarily responsible for the ongoing procurement and negotiation of materials, components, equipment, supplies and services. This person will have full responsibility for planning requirements and supply chain management to ensure timely deliveries of goods and services within budget and/or standard costs, working closely with product engineering, systems, and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Determine material requirements from Engineering and R&D schedules and coordinate the efficient movement of materials through fabrication cycle
• Negotiate pricing, delivery, lead-time, etc. with suppliers and other teams
• Manage service contracts for terms and conditions and compliance
• Plan, schedule, and monitor goods and services to meet the production requirements of the company, not limited to JIT, Kanban, Blanket POs, and EOQ
• Procures materials components, equipment, supplies and services necessary for the operation of the company
• Take on special assignments as needed to mature the department function
• Work with receiving, finance and suppliers to reconcile discrepancies in receiving and invoicing
• Develop, Implement and Support sourcing and supplier management initiatives

Requirements

• BS in a Supply Chain and Operations field or equivalent, certification, or relevant work experience
• Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes and prior experience related to sourcing and procuring parts
• Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills; performs well working close with multidisciplinary teams
• Adaptability to a start-up environment; capability to take initiative, develop own tasks and timelines, and solve broad, ambiguous problems without direct technical oversight
• Strong background in major equipment selection and execution
• Highly organized, motivated self-starter able to balance multiple priorities appropriately

Desired Background

• 5+ years of material buying and planning in a manufacturing setting
• Experience in supply chain management and inventory control
• Construction Procurement a huge plus
• Demonstrated negotiation skills
• Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate with technical and non-technical teams
• Ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with internal and external partners
• Experience with Direct and Indirect material planning and procurement management
• Experience with Instrumentation and Controls and working with materials lab teams a huge plus
