AADS Visual AnalyticsInternship Overview:

You will be part of a growing and dynamic Advanced Analytics and Data Sciences (AADS) team whose main goal is to develop advanced visual analytics methods to derive rapid insights into data and world class data story telling techniques to make those insights memorable to support business goals through out Lilly. This is an enterprise-wide team who has engagements in discovery, clinical development, portfolio management, ethics & compliance and scientific communications and will expand the breadth of their engagements as the team grows.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other analytics team members to review and provide feedback on the analytics work being done, and be willing to seek feedback from other team members about your own work.
• Stay current with respect to data visualization methodology, to maintain proficiency in applying new and varied methods, and to be competent in justifying methods selected.
• Data story telling.

• Consult and elucidate workflows to map to visual analytics tools.
• Assist in and/or be accountable for selecting visual idioms for visual communication, authoring specifications for the visualization, and validating the work.
• Produce data visualizations and interactive data visualization tools as well as provide oversight and verification.
• Effectively utilize interactive tools for quick visualization of data.
• Justify methods selected.

• Ensure replication of tools and systems, where applicable and stay informed of technological advances.

Lilly internships last for 12 continuous weeks beginning in May or June. Each intern will be assigned a project affording the opportunity to actively contribute to the organization and build a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. Professional development and social events will be held throughout the summer. At the conclusion, each intern will present their project highlights, findings, recommendations, and general internship accomplishments to senior leaders and stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in and attending school in a program for an M.S. or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Design or Information Science Engineering

Desired Experience:

• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Data analysis/ statistics, technology, and systems expertise

• Experience using GitHub and jira
• Interpersonal/teamwork skills for effective interactions
• Creativity and innovation
• Demonstrated problem solving ability and attention to detail
• Strong knowledge in a graphics design package (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Animate, Sketch) or data visualization language such as d3/javascript R and R/Shiny or python and DASH
