This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Carpenter ~ without more than normal supervision. I am able to perform common carpentry tasks and have performed the majority of the following duties: utilized sketches and diagrams to install pre-planned framing and partitions of wood or fabricated material. I have used patterns, spacing and techniques for nailing, fastening, bracing, splicing and clearing and standard joints and grooves. I have used shop arithmetic to fit and measure boards or sheets of material. I have used templates, precut or preplanned materials, determining the proper pattern, spacing and techniques. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or supervisor. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: Work requires considerable standing, stooping, bending, and arm movements when nailing and using such tools as handsaws and planers. The work on ladders and scaffolds requires working overhead or in stretched, cramped, or awkward positions. Incumbent is required to lift and carry items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, and occasionally heavier items. Must be able to use a respirator for extended periods of time while working. Eye and hearing protection devices are required.
- Working Conditions: May be required to perform duties in inclement weather. Works both inside and outside in temperatures from 100 F to -30 F. When outside, incumbent is exposed to snow, rain and wind. Inside work is usually in adequately heated, lighted and ventilated buildings. Noise from hammers, saws, and other shop tools is frequent. There is dust and sometimes dirt when repairing structures and operating power saws. Exposure to hazardous materials is possible. Injuries may occur in lifting heavy pieces of lumber or equipment. Subject to cuts and bruises when using hand tools and equipment. More serious injuries may occur when operating power tools. Susceptible to falls from ladders and scaffolds. Is subject to skin and lung irritations and possible poison from exposure to paint fumes, roofing compounds, adhesives, solvents and other caustic materials. Protective clothing and equipment (respirator) are available to minimize dangers of exposure to hazardous conditions or materials.
