Chair, Department of Neurosurgery, University of Virginia Health and School of Medicine

The University of Virginia Health and School of Medicine are conducting a national search to appoint the next Chair, Department of Neurosurgery.

The Chair will ensure and enable excellence in clinical care, education, and scientific discovery in Neurosurgery. The Chair is expected to continue to foster strong collaborations within the Department and across UVA. While the physician leader has overall responsibility for operations and strategy across the Department, sustaining a thriving educational environment is paramount. The Chair will be an aspirational leader, responsible for the alignment of strategic priorities, execution, and operations of the clinical, educational, research, and service missions.

This position requires a renowned physician and experienced leader with a proven record of exemplary scholarship, innovation in education and training, success in recruiting and developing faculty, community engagement, and a vision for moving the Department forward in the new and changing landscape of academic Neurosurgery practice.  The Chair will be an exceptional clinician-educator, or clinician-scientist, and leader capable of shaping a compelling vision for the Department of Neurosurgery.

The UVA Department of Neurosurgery, founded in 1941, is dedicated to delivering the highest quality care to patients with both routine and complex neurosurgical conditions. The Department and its faculty have a long tradition of collegiality and collaboration across the university.
