Barnes–Jewish Hospital Specialty Care Clinic has an opportunity for a Clinic Services Rep.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday
  • Shift will be between 7:30a–5p
  • 40 hours a week
  • No weekends or holidays

 


Overview

Barnes–Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes–Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full–time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes–Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The Surgical Specialty Clinic consists of a total of 13 clinics – Ortho Spine, Ortho Trauma, Ortho Recon, Ortho Foot and Ankle, Ortho Hand, Plastic Hand, Plastic Recon, General Surgery, Urology, Neurosurgery, ENT–Head and neck, ENT plastics, and Otology. The clinic runs 1/2 day to whole day clinics Monday thru Friday from 0800–1700. We are closed on weekends and major holidays. The staff consists of RNs, Clerical, and the Resident Physicians who rotate through our clinic for their outpatient educational experience. The clinic sees about 13,000 patients a year. We treat a range a medical problems from fractures, minor excisions, evaluations for surgery, etc.


Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provides clerical support in an ambulatory patient care setting encompassing hospital mission, vision and values.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates patient referral procedure by management of work queues, in baskets and faxes, as well as initiates the pre–authorization process. Runs eligibility in software to confirm insurance coverage.
  • Provides clerical support including, but not limited to, scanning documents, preparing charts, managing e–correspondence and general inquiries.
  • Schedules and coordinates patient appointments with the department and other areas (radiology, procedure area, other testing) at the time of check out.
  • Effectively interacts and communicates with patients and families to assist them and direct them to access available resources such as financial assistance, social work, and more.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
