Job Description
Position Summary:
The Clinical Nurse III provides advanced nursing care to patients with complex health conditions, while serving as a clinical leader in the Surgery/ENT department. This role supports physicians, coordinates patient flow, and ensures high-quality patient-centered care throughout the surgical and ambulatory process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
- Assist with exams, surgical procedures, and post-operative care.
- Provide patient education on diagnosis, treatment plans, and medications.
- Monitor and document vital signs, assessments, and nursing interventions.
- Manage clinic patient flow and inform physicians of patient readiness.
- Supervise and mentor nursing staff; provide onboarding and preceptorship for new hires.
- Identify and resolve clinical or administrative issues in coordination with leadership.
- Participate in telephone triage, appointment scheduling, and care coordination.
- Maintain compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in professional development and unit-based meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Diploma or Associate degree in Nursing accepted.
- Current DC RN license or eligibility for DC licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience required.
- Prior surgical or ENT experience strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and EMR documentation skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking, bending, twisting, and reaching above shoulder level.
- Ability to lift or carry and push/pull up to 20 lbs.
- Regular use of personal protective equipment.
- Manual dexterity to operate computer and medical equipment.
