Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture, including database administration and solutions in a customer-facing or support role.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.
  • Experience architecting solutions for data transformation, migration, governance strategies, high availability, or disaster recovery.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with data migration strategies and moving large-scale production systems either on-premise/data center environments or migration to cloud scenarios.
  • Experience with optimizing database performance with respect to transactional and/or analytic workloads.
  • Experience in understanding a complex customer's existing software workloads, and the ability to define a technical migration roadmap to the Cloud reflecting specific customer needs.
  • SQL skills with deep query troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Expertise in Disaster Recovery (DR) and data backup strategies.

As a Customer Engineer, you will work with technical Sales teams as a data management subject matter expert to differentiate Google Cloud to our customers. You will help prospective and existing customers and partners understand the power of Google Cloud, develop creative cloud solutions and architectures to solve their business challenges, engage in proofs of concepts, and troubleshoot any technical questions and roadblocks related to database, application migrations, and data back ends for new application development. You'll engage with customers to understand their business and technical requirements, and persuasively present practical and useful solutions on Google Cloud.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $118,000-$177,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, identify key customer technical objections, and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.
  • Share in-depth storage and database expertise to support the technical relationship with Google's customers, including product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination and prioritization of solutions impacting customer adoption of Google Cloud.
  • Work with customers to demonstrate and prototype Google Cloud product integrations in customer/partner environments.
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution using best practices on Google Cloud.
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as needed.
