Position Summary

The CNC Programmer will be responsible for setting up, creating programing, and operating CNC and various other types of machines. CNC Programmer must be knowledgeable in work holding, fixturing and cutting tool selection and specification. This position will also be responsible for maintaining quality and safety standards and performing routine maintenance on equipment and supplies as needed.

Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Create CNC programs from SolidWorks, Fusion 360 and other CAD model software.
  • Create CNC programs from prints that might not have CAD models. 
  • Utilize HyperMill/OpenMind and Fusion 360 software.
  • Program creation includes, and is not limited to, tool setup instruction, tool library updates as new tools are introduced, along with definition and creation of workholding and fixturing. 
  • Ensure programs meet or exceed targeted machining times to ensure optimum use of capacity.
  • Use skills in Print Reading, GD&T, Tool Selection, Speeds & Feeds, jigging, and fixturing to create part manufacturing setups.
  • Set up fixtures and relevant tooling on machine to manufacture components completely.
  • Run programs to manufacture conforming workpieces.
  • Work alongside CMM operator/quality department to ensure parts are manufactured to specified tolerances.
  • Work alongside our Engineering team to ensure finished parts meet quality and functionality criteria as expected.
  • Work alongside Machine Operators to ensure finished parts meet quality and functionality criteria as expected. 
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.
  • Identify and suggest new technologies and techniques to continuously improve timing and quality of parts being manufactured.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Manufacturing, Programming or Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of five years of recent experience in programming & setup of 3 to 5 axis CNC milling, with turning an advantage
  • Experience with MS Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word) required
  • Energetic and great team player
  • Ability to work in high pressure environment with tight deadlines and fluid work schedules.
  • Great attention to detail and desire to continuously improve processes and procedures already established without sacrificing quality.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Mazatrol, Fanuc, and Fadal controls is preferred 
  • Experience with Hypermill and/or Fusion 360
  • CNC simulation software experience an advantage

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and explosives. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
