Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and experienced Combo Welder Team Lead to oversee daily welding operations within our structural welding department. This individual will be responsible not only for performing high-quality combination welding tasks (MIG/TIG on carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum), but also for leading a team of welders, maintaining production schedules, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring consistent output quality. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong welding ability, effective communication skills, and proven experience directing a small team in a fast-paced, vertically integrated manufacturing environment. Duties • Perform advanced MIG and TIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components. • Interpret and work from mechanical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication diagrams. • Oversee the daily activities of a team of welders to ensure production goals and quality standards are met. • Conduct routine quality checks and verify that welds meet UT (ultrasonic testing) standards. • Coordinate job assignments, communicate schedule updates, and report performance metrics to supervisory staff. • Provide guidance, coaching, and informal on-the-job training to new or developing welders. • Ensure safety policies are consistently followed, including the use of PPE, proper rigging/crane usage, and safe handling of equipment. • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and promote a culture of accountability and teamwork. • Proactively identify workflow issues and escalate equipment or material shortages as needed. Qualifications • 3–5+ years of combination welding experience (MIG/TIG) in a structural or industrial manufacturing setting. • Demonstrated ability to weld with precision and pass UT inspection standards. • Proficient in reading mechanical drawings, including GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing). • Previous experience in a lead, mentor, or supervisory role strongly preferred. • Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment with repetitive physical demands (standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs). • Familiarity with overhead and jib cranes, grinders, and common fabrication tools. • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to direct peers and maintain team productivity. • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet production demands.
