Main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies, are the domain of the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED). The division comprises all aspects, from architectures to implementation; our engineers work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.
We are looking to hire a GNSS engineer in the Digital Communications Implementation Department (DCID). Prototyping cutting-edge positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) systems that will drive future acquisition programs is what we do. DCID uses software-defined radios and FPGA technology to develop advanced navigation system prototypes (GNSS, PNT, GPS, etc.) that solve the toughest problems related to digital communication systems. DCID's support includes guiding the acquisition of next generation navigation systems needed by our customer, helping industry implement cutting edge technology and creating innovative solutions to our customers' most challenging problems.
**This role may support as a hybrid work model; the majority of work will be required onsite in either El Segundo, CA or Albuquerque, NM.
What You'll Be Doing
Job Summary:
  • Leading and participating in a multi-disciplinary engineering teams in the development and analysis of GNSS concepts.
  • Leading development of prototype systems utilizing traditional and non-traditional signals for PNT.
  • Analysis of signal processing performance using MATLAB, Python, or similar simulation environments.
  • Designing, implementing & evaluating prototype systems at field test events and technology demonstrations.
  • Coordinating tasks and participating in technical meetings for military, civil, and commercial customers working closely with members of diverse teams comprising military officers, government civilians, prime contractors, SE&I contractors and other FFRDCs.
  • Providing technical leadership & mentor junior staff.

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-years of experience in progressively more responsible roles.
  • Expertise with embedded DSP software and hardware system architecture, algorithms, and implementation for GNSS Signal-In-Space (SIS) processing, navigation data recovery and management, health, and integrity monitoring
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.
  • Ability to travel to support customers at various locations.
  • For this specific position and program, the chosen candidate will need to be of U.S. Citizenship as they will need to have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance provisioned by the U.S. Government.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Advanced technical degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Experience with military and commercial satellite communication systems.
  • Experience with small satellites and systems
  • Knowledge of LEO, MEO and GEO orbits and environments
  • Knowledge of Attitude, Orbit and Control Systems (AOCS)
  • Currently hold an active U.S. Government issued DOD TS/SCI clearance.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
