Summary
This position serves as a Community Engagement Officer in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Great Lakes Region, Office of Policy, International Affairs & Environment (APL), Office of National Engagement and Regional Administration (ARA). May develop new and innovative approaches, methodologies, and/or techniques; and direct challenging projects/programs/activities.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Experience organizing and leading aspects of community outreach activities. Experience with managing a workload in a fast-paced, high profile, and politically sensitive environment.

This position is covered by the Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Responsibilities Continued:
Receives training on current FAA noise programs, models and environmental and noise policies to ensure an expert understanding of the principles to convey to the public. Maintains the public websites for the RAsβ on aircraft noise related issues to include information on:
1. Links to regional airport noise complaint websites; 2. Regional environmental documents with community aircraft noise concerns; 3. Responses to frequently asked questions and; 4. Other appropriate aircraft noise related information as determined by the RA and/or HRC-HQs, and AEE. Develops proposed changes to FAA policy and guidance on aircraft noise, based on trend analysis. Contacts are internal and external. Often represents the major subdivision and LOB/SO as a principal point of contact to provide advice and guidance on policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Work typically is reviewed only at completion for success in achieving planned results. Has broad discretion to ensure the alignment of organizational goals and policies and the requirements of the projects and/or other work activities. Work activities impact directly on the objectives of one or more organizational units, major subdivisions, and/or LOB's/SO's and impact on the objectives of the FAA. The work regularly affects internal and external customers.
