Job Description
Practice Highlights: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Compensation and Pension (C&P) Psychologist to join our high-performing team. In this role, you will conduct psychological evaluations for Veterans applying for disability benefits, playing a critical role in the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) claims process. You will join a dynamic team that includes professionals from a variety of disciplines such as general medical, psychology neurology, audiology, optometry, and dental. This non-treatment role focuses on diagnostic clarity and documentation to support accurate and fair disability determinations allowing you to apply your expertise in psychological assessments and evaluations to support our nation's veterans in a meaningful and impactful way.
Duties and responsibilities include, but is not limited to:
The Compensation and Pension (C&P) Psychologist functions as a full-time mental health examiner for compensation and pension examinations. As such, the incumbent will perform all the duties necessary for high quality, timely completion of the mental health examinations assigned for initial, review, or increase C&P evaluations. It is expected that an average of four examinations (i.e. face-to-face or virtual appointments with the patient) will be completed in a day, with the psychologist expected to review the claims file, medical record, and associated background materials, perform the examination of the patient as requested by VBA, and complete documentation and submission of the examination within 3 working days after the examination has been completed. The incumbent will provide opinions regarding the veteran's mental health as requested by the VBA, and will perform specialty examinations (e.g. PTSD, MST examinations) as required. Information from the VBA on the quality and timeliness of the examinations will be considered in the incumbent's annual performance evaluation.
Preferred Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a professional psychologist. Experience with Compensation and Pension preferred
Work Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 0700-1530 (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs. This also includes participation in On-Call coverage for evenings, weekends and holidays).
