Are you looking to design and develop control systems, and interact with a cross-functional team? This is a terrific opportunity to work with control theory and system identification to develop robust products, filling an important role at a stable organization.

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc.Β is looking for a talented embedded control systems engineer with a strong desire to learn and grow with our innovation team in the Portland, Oregon area. This global development center develops materials handling solutions for the present and future. Current project focus will be our world class operator assist systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in EE, CE, ME with controls focus, or similar
  • 7 years experience with Control Theory and Closed Loop controls
  • Experience with C and Simulink

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating system models from first principles or measured data
  • Knowledge of Signal Processing and Sampling Theory
  • Proficiency in Simulink model development.
  • Experience developing software to control a physical device
  • Awareness of data communications (e.g. J1939, CAN)
  • Familiar with agile software development practices
  • Proficiency in C or Python programming language.
  • Exposure to configuration management tools such as Git or Subversion

  • Functions well in a team environment by working well with other employees and other departments.Β 
  • Ability and willingness to operate industrial equipment for development purposes (e.g. Fork Truck)
  • Driven to see tasks through to completion
  • Innovative thinking, troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Ability to follow established procedures.
  • Attentive to details to ensure accuracy in design and documentation.
  • Exhibits good judgment and a realistic understanding of issues.
  • Occasional travel may be required (less than 10% total time).
