Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years old AND have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school.
- Working experience and knowledge in cooking a variety of meals for such facility as restaurants, clubs or hotels.
- Ability to cook food in large quantities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of food service equipment sufficient to operate and clean electrical food choppers, slicers, shredders, grinders and mixers and ability to work safely, i.e., use knife properly to avoid cuts, be alert to open jets or escaping gas when grilling.
- Knowledge of principles of food spoilage, food borne illness and food safety and ability to evaluate a variety of raw and cooked food items to ascertain their freshness.
- Knowledge of the characteristics of various foods such as color, flavor, consistency, texture, and temperature and cooking time.
- Ability to follow oral and written English instructions, i.e., cookbooks, menus, recipes, and schedules.
- Knowledge of sanitation procedures.
- Must obtain a Food Handler's Certificate.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 40 lbs independently and objects over 40 lbs with assistance.
- Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to include weekends, holidays, and night time.
