Job Description
Apogee Engineering is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Engineer with expertise in Mixed Reality Prototyping to join our Science and Technology (S&T) division in Dayton, Ohio. The candidate will report directly to our Chief S&T Strategist.

What you will be doing:
- Develop and implement automated solutions, with a specific focus on mixed reality prototyping, to improve efficiency and precision in various processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand automation and mixed reality requirements and develop appropriate strategies.
- Utilize software tools such as Unity Pro, MATLAB, Python, and SolidWorks for mixed reality automation projects.
- Design, prototype, and test automation systems with integrated mixed reality components, ensuring seamless interaction and user experience.
- Utilize mixed reality technologies (e.g., AR/VR) to enhance visualization, simulation, and training aspects of automation projects.
- Analyze data and provide insights for decision-making processes related to mixed reality automation.
- Contribute to the design and fabrication of unique products, incorporating mixed reality elements for enhanced functionality and user experience.
- Maintain active security clearance and adhere to confidentiality protocols as required.
What you will need to have:
- Security Clearance Required: Secret Eligibility
- One of the following education/experience qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3+ years' experience, including 3+ years' (5 years' preferred) of professional experience in prototyping and relevant software programming or 3D modeling, OR
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5+ years' experience, including 3+ years' (5 years' preferred) of professional experience in prototyping and relevant software programming or 3D modeling
- Proven experience in automation engineering, with a specific focus on mixed reality prototyping, preferably in a research or development environment
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Arduino, SolidWorks, and related software tools
- Strong understanding of microcontroller programming and control systems
- Experience with additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping techniques, and mixed reality technologies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (preferred)
Compensation & Benefits:
- Apogee offers two medical plans, a high deductible health plan with an HSA and HRA and a traditional POS plan with co-pays, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, PTO, paid holidays, parental, military, and jury duty paid leaves. Regular part-time employees scheduled for twenty-four or more hours per work week are eligible for benefits on a pro-rated basis.
- This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
