Job Description

As a Cost Analyst you are a key to identifying improvements to Wavenet’s overall profit figures. This is key for the success of Wavenet’s growth plans. We are seeking an analytical minded individual who has similar experience or comes from a purchase ledger background. The role will be a crucial one for Wavenet and a great opportunity to experience a wide range of activities and knowledge of the workings of the business. The role will also come into contact with various stakeholders and you will be able to directly influence margin improvement and cost savings.

This role will ensure the tidiness of Wavenet’s cost base by carefully reconciling large volumes of data, which is then reflected in the billing system. The role will work closely with other departments to make sure everything is being billed onwards or services have been closed down efficiently and on time. Also highlighting any process improvement to relevant teams by identifying certain trends. Due to volume of transactions the candidate would need to have strong knowledge of Excel and be keen to explore systems to extract the right data sets.

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

The extent of your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • To develop & perform a monthly reconciliation routine for all group carriers for recurring services including:
    • Broadband Rentals (Primary)
    • WLR (BT Services)
    • Hosted Services
    • Call Charges
    • Other Monthly Services
  • To make sure cost & supplier data is correct in Symbill, our backoffice billing system, including the following data;
    • Cost Price
    • Supplier Name
    • Correct Product Name
    • Supplier Reference
  • To make sure all one-off event billing from carriers is recorded and recharged appropriately to the customer. These can include Setup fees, engineering fees and cease fees.
  • Investigation analysis to see why a product hasn’t been charged, what customer the product belongs to, should it be cancelled etc.
  • Role will work closely with billing team + provisioning / operational / commercial / sales teams especially for investigation analysis. Communication between departments is key for this role.
  • Monthly analysis of Loss making calls / loss making products. Identifying areas where Margin could be improved and working closely with the Commercial Director to make decisions.
  • Working with the carriers to make sure they bill Wavenet correctly (invoicing name of Wavenet instead of acquisition etc)
  • Identifying areas of consolidation of supplier base. (Mainly the legacy supplier chain)
  • Chasing Credits from suppliers on back of reconciliation errors, making sure the credits are actually raised. Establishing good links with the top carriers will be key for this role.
  • Creating a monthly report of all savings/revenue generated to report back to management. This will keep track of progress and will help to promote the role and how vital it is.
  • Identifying areas of process improvement within the order and ceasing process by noticing trends of missed charges.

The successful candidate will have:


  • Experience as in administrator in an office environment with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Experience of providing excellent customer service.
  • A team player and the ability to work with people of all working styles, backgrounds, experience, etc.
  • Challenge current processes; identify improvements.
  • Dedicated to resolving problems / issues in a timely and accurate manner. Ability to think outside the box should the situation require it.
  • Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to prioritise and handle multiple assignments at any given time while also serving as a "go to" for all members of a large team.
  • Ability to complete complex tasks and projects quickly, react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround.
  • Must be flexible and able to commit the time required to get the job done in line with business needs.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • A customer focus and a strong 'can do’ attitude.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop and willing to go the extra mile.
  • Reliable and approachable.
