Job Description
At Code and Theory, Creative Director/Copywriters have extensive copywriting experience and can expertly and seamlessly concept, write and collaborate across all digital touchpoints—and above the line. You will direct, invent and deliver crafted, thoughtful work that simultaneously demonstrates both passion for emerging tech, as well as linguistic savvy.Â
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Creative Directors are adept at not only interpreting strategy, but informing it and translating it to campaign concepts. This is a strategy-led agency and productive collaboration with strategists is essential to the work we do and the client relationships we nurture. You should feel confident presenting work and actively participating in discussions with existing or prospective clients—as well as guiding more junior writers, who learn in all different ways, to broaden, understand and improve their work.
As a brand writer, you have a focused range of skills and want to hone them. Here are the main forms your work will take:
- Concepting: Concept and execute on integrated branded campaigns across connected platforms, working with designers, developers and production teams, ensuring that creative ideas are on-strategy and directly answer briefs
- Scriptwriting: Compose vivid treatments and scripts that tell stories through both voice over and supers
- Deck Writing: Effectively explain conceptual ideas and develop an argument with impactful cadence, from manifestos to idea writeups
- Campaign Copy: Nuance a campaign message across multiple platforms and contexts
- Wayfinding: Your work could live in experiential environments, where leading the way, in unique contexts, is key
- Presentations: Participate in, and lead client presentations, sessions and follow-up meetings; for pitches in particular, this requires the ability to demonstrate and deliver work with passion and energyÂ
- Management: Nurturing talent is a form your work takes, and CDs at C&T have direct reports and conduct both formal and informal reviews for peers
ESSENTIALS
While we’re a light-hearted and creative group at Code and Theory, we do have some concrete requirements for this position. To be an effective Creative Director, you should have:
- Integrated experience, including time at a leading digital agency
- A portfolio featuring 360 campaigns with a digital bent
- Ability to present clearly and develop relationships with clients
- Experience working capably across teams with varied strengths and experience levels
- Strength in leading brainstorms and guiding work
- A positive outlook and optimistic attitude; genuinely cares about creating excellent work
- Can calmly and capably manage timelines, multi-task and work collaborativelyÂ
- Ability to shift voice and tone to write for a broad range of brands and platforms, and deliver a range of innovative creative solutions
