YOUR ROLE

The Data Analyst to join our expanding problem-solving team will be supporting our Long Term Care Claims Operations department and will help drive business strategy and solve complex problems. This individual will harness the power of data to better forecast trends, build dashboards that measure effectiveness/efficiency, provide cost benefit analysis, drive capacity planning, and project impact all while getting to present findings/insights to the leadership team.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Support LTC Operations Claims leadership with reports, data, & analytical insights
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand their problems and goals, gather business requirements, and develop queries & key performance indicators dashboards
  • Conceptualize, create, iterate, and automate dashboards for tracking metrics and driving business recommendations
  • Build and maintain reporting using a variety of tools that will include Business Objects, SQL, Spotfire, and PowerBI
  • Handle ad-hoc requests from internal & external parties in a timely fashion aligning with current and historical business processes
  • Participate in Claim strategic initiative projects by providing insight and data analysis
  • Build strong relationships with Senior Management to develop deep context about the organization initiatives and help shape strategy through data
  • Recommend changes to processes based on trends and data analysis, apply knowledge of Claims strategy, relevant issues, and risk and financial goals

MUST HAVE / WHAT YOU BRING

  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills, a critical thinker with the ability to identify trends and solve problems with data
  • Bachelor's degree in an analytical or technical discipline
  • 2-5 years' professional experience demonstrating expertise in developing SQL code in Oracle or Microsoft SQL
  • Strong knowledge of how to manage and analyze structured data using Microsoft Excel, SQL, and/or Python
  • Proficiency in writing SQL; interpreting, enhancing & optimizing established SQL queries
  • Experience building clear and easy to understand dashboards with a data visualizations tool (i.e. Spotfire, Tableau, Power Business Intelligence or Business Objects)
  • Ability to present insights and make recommendations to Senior Management
  • Experience translating functional business requirements to technical specifications
  • A team player who leads by example with the ability to multi-task based on business needs
  • A highly analytical and curious mindset that can iteratively define relevant metrics and translate analytical insights to drive strategy, action, and recommendations

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience with Internal Genworth Systems or background in the Insurance Industry
  • Experience working with TIBCO Spotfire Business Intelligence
  • Experience working with Pega
  • Master's degree in related field
  • Subject matter expertise in advanced analytical and modeling data capabilities utilizing Python and/or R
  • Experience in data management and cleaning including database object creation - SQL Functions and Views
