We represent over 100,000 workers and have over 200 staff employees covering 6 counties in Southern California; including Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties and numerous cities in these regions. Our members provide critical services within the public and private sectors in diverse fields including health care, social services, libraries, courts, parks and recreation, public works, higher education, mental health, and many others. They work tirelessly to care for the sick, protect the environment, support families in need, and protect our communities' most vulnerable individuals. SEIU 721 organizes workers in the public and private sectors and empowers them to not only affect change in their workplace, but at the political level as well. Through grassroots organizing, identifying, and developing leaders within our Union, we make sure that our members voices are heard, and that the government is held accountable to ensuring efficiency, advocating for those in need, and improving access to services. SEIU 721 represents public and private service workers across Southern California who are committed to their communities’ health and well-being. Our goal is to uplift those workers who have been historically marginalized and give them a seat at the table so they may provide for their families for generations to come. We continue to grow our outreach so that we can provide excellent representation and strengthen the power of workers in a changing labor economy. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Data Analyst is responsible for maintenance and enhancements of existing database system. Maintain and troubleshoot technical issues and provide technical assistance to other staff. This person will report to the External Organizing Database Coordinator and/or their designee and could be assigned duties beyond this job description. Local travel is required sometimes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED: ▪ Manage and ensure the integrity of data related to new member engagement. ▪ Assist in creation of reports and analysis for campaign leadership. ▪ Train Organizers and other staff in best practices and data skill sets. ▪ Train Organizers in VAN. ▪ Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or technical questions. ▪ Import and export data between vendors and database. ▪ Assist in documenting standard operating procedures. ▪ Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change. ▪ Use VAN to maintain an up-to-date list of all targeted workers. ▪ Process new lists to increase our understanding of target units. ▪ Create and analyze campaign reports. ▪ Ensure data is entered correctly and on time. ▪ Monitor and correct systematic inconsistencies and errors. ▪ Supervise data entry and provides support. ▪ Data entry as needed. ▪ Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: • Ability to communicate, work effectively and relate respectfully with a diverse membership and staff; ▪ High level experience with VAN; ▪ Experience creating and adjusting reports to meet a field team’s needs; ▪ Strong quantitative and analytic skills, including proficiency with spread sheet and relational database software applications, and experience working with large data sets; ▪ Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize ant set priorities; ▪ Bachelor’s Degree in applicable subject or 2+ years of related work experience and/or training; ▪ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with SQL a plus; ▪ Team player and self-starter with excellent communication and problem solving skills; ▪ Good ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and efficiently; ▪ Must possess unquestionable reliability, dependability. Must have excellent organizational skills; ▪ Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply processes and procedures using independent judgment and discretion; ▪ Excellent communication and documentation skills; MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Willingness to work long and irregular hours and participate in all union wide activities. • Occasionally, after hours on call duties will be required. • Valid California driver's license, working automobile and valid auto insurance with minimum level of coverage required by union. • Commitment to social justice and building power for workers. SALARY AND BENEFITS: • Annual Salary as of July 1, 2025: $81,245.13 (entry) to $109,606.04 (15+ years). • Fully paid benefit package including medical, dental, vision and a generous life insurance. • The Data Analyst is a UUP bargaining unit position subject to a staff union contract.
