Data Engineer

Job Summary:

The Data Engineer will work with a team to provide high-quality service to our customer in managing its portfolio of systems. This role is responsible for the execution of data warehousing and pipeline activities within the area of USAF logistics.

The Data Engineer will analyze existing warehouse and pipeline processes and aid in their migration to a cloud environment. They will develop pipeline routines to process and load data from disparate data sources, as well as frameworks and processes to validate results.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with subject matter experts (SME) across organizations to collect and update business and technical metadata
• Develop source-to-target (STMs) that document data transformations
• Conduct data discovery activities to identify appropriate data sources
• Review submitted data to detect data quality problems and anomalies and help correct data: both current and historical
• Collect and analyze data and associated system artifacts for stakeholders to use in perfecting their business practices
• Perform analysis to determine how data might best be applied to profit the stakeholders
• Develop ETL routines to load and curate disparate data sets
• Design, develop and maintain data pipelines using industry best practices

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

You'll need to have:

• Ability to obtain an active DoD Secret Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar and 5+ years of experience
• Experience developing pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Database
• Expertise using SQL for data analysis, data quality, and data profiling activities
• Experience with multiple RDBMS
• Experience in one or more scripting languages
• Expertise creating data mapping documentation for databases, interfaces and applications
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and roles
• Excellent written and verbal communications

Even better if you have:

• Experience with AF Logistics systems and data
• Experience with Teradata
• Experience with USAF logistics systems
• Experience in requirements elicitation
• Extensive practical experience in working with and defining data
• Logical thinker; able to articulate thoughts both verbally and diagrammatically
• Experience with data collection systems and their strategies
